Everyone thinks of the SoCal sun
How Palm Springs gleams in the day
Put the top down when you hit downtown
Or the Sunset Strip in L.A.
Nobody tells you the sun always sets
Nobody says summer ends
40 days of rain
Overflowing drains
California is cold in the winter
The deserts freeze at night
California is cold in the winter
With no one by your side
California’s cold in the winter
San Francisco will chill your bones
Joshua Tree gets snow
Even Barstow goes below freezing
On dark December evenings
Nobody tells you how they all go away
Nobody says it all ends
40 days of rain
Here it comes again
California is cold in the winter
The deserts freeze at night
California is cold in the winter
With no one by your side
California’s cold in the winter

I Got Your Six
04:02
|
|||
Alarm starts the day
Steel yourself for the fray
Mask on to face the crowds
Armored up to go out
When every day is a battle
When life feels like a war
When you find you’re behind enemy lines
Remember you’ve got support
I got your six
I got your back
You don’t need no cavalry
You’ve got me
I got your six
I know it’s so hard
To let down your guard
Always on patrol
Always on your own
When foes are on all sides
And against you they rise
I will be your shield
I will never yield
I got your six
I’m on your side
When you want to retreat
When you’re close to defeat
Remember you’ve got me
I got your six
So have no fear
Lay down your head and get some rest
I will be right here
I got your six

Soft Shoulder
03:26
|
|||
Keep your hands on the wheel
Stare straight ahead
Try not to feel
Nothing is said
You're here on this ride
It's easy for you
No feelings to hide
While I feel blue
Nobody moves and nobody gets hurt
Don't try anything stupid
And the sign says soft shoulder
as if I can't be bolder
Is it a crime to try to make you mine?
The sign says soft shoulder
The moment growing colder
Is it a crime to try to make you mine?
Pull over to stop
Take a long breath
Telling you how I feel
Is like slow death
Nobody moves and nobody gets hurt
Don't try anything stupid
And the sign says soft shoulder
as if I can't be bolder
Is it a crime to try to make you mine?
The sign says soft shoulder
The moment growing colder
Is it a crime to try to make you mine?

None But The Brave
04:08
|
|||
Riding the high country
Trying to escape
Promises I made to thee
Debts I cannot pay
Nothing but the road ahead
Voices on the wind
Think of what you said
Recite my rules again
Watch out for yourself
Don’t gamble with your life
Don’t trust nobody
It’s the only way to survive
Love is a game for none but the brave
And none but the brave can play
Love is a trail for none but the brave
None but the brave dare go that way
A coward I may be
But I’m still here today
I’ve seen all the broken souls
Who gambled their hearts away
Watch out for yourself
No one is on your side
Don’t trust your foolish heart
You’ll never make it out alive
Love is a game for none but the brave
And none but the brave can play
Love is a trail for none but the brave
None but the brave stake that claim
My chest hurts a little
I swear I’ll be alright
I got no regrets on these cold and lonely nights
Love is a game for none but the brave
And none but the brave can play
Love is a trail for none but the brave
None but the brave take that lane

The Gin Makes You Mean
03:45
|
|||
Yeah, it’s been fun
But we can’t keep this up forever
It’s nobody’s fault
But the shaking is breaking the walls down
around our heads
once again
You lie about where you’ve been
You say the gin makes you mean
and the beer makes you wild
The weed makes you dream
And he makes you smile
And the bourbon, it helps
when it’s from the top shelf
Does it make you feel
Like someone else
I see you through the glass
But I can’t make out the words
Can’t help if you love
Even though sometimes it hurts
If you’re asking me to choose between my friends
I’ll sit right here
And ride this train to the the end
You say the gin makes you mean
and the beer makes you wild
But you know this scene has been tired for a while
The SSRIs
Bring the light to your eyes
Don’t it make you feel?
You say the gin makes you mean
and the beer makes you wild
The weed makes you dream
And he makes you smile
I know this life
scares you to death
And baby it seems
you want something else

Blue All Over
03:53
|
|||
Flesh on the bone
Lust in your heart
Thoughts you won't own
For you're too smart
Caught in the dew
Your hands upon me
Words become you
It's clear to see
Cut a path through your heart
A walk through the noise
You played the part
Of the charming boy
Lower your shield
And halt your feet
This song will not yield
It's hard to complete
All the white lies
Hide a heart so black
The things you said
Can't be taken back
Black, white, and blue all over
We met in the white
Of a winter so dark
Your struggles apparent
Despite our spark
Time has elapsed
There's gray in your hair
But your green eyes show
What your heart can bear
All the white lies
Hide a heart so black
The things you said
Can't be taken back
Black, white, and blue all over

Dearest Mercury
04:05
|
|||
Watched you from afar
As the seasons changed
Put you in a jar
Your mystery remained
Held you in my hand
Quick and slippery
Not part of the plan
For you to poison me
Watch you shine -- Dearest Mercury
See you glide -- Dearest Mercury
Feel you inside -- Dearest Mercury
Can’t decide -- Dearest Mercury
And now you’re gone
And the seasons change
You weren’t here long
Bitterness remains
Now insomnia
And I can’t breathe
What's left behind
Doesn’t feel like me
Watch you shine -- Dearest Mercury
See you glide -- Dearest Mercury
Feel you inside -- Dearest Mercury
Can’t decide -- Dearest Mercury

Wild Card
04:04
|
|||
I’ve never been so lucky
As the day we met
You took a chance on me
Together we placed a bet
Rolled the dice
Drew my hand
I spun the wheel
Fortuna smiled on me
But I always knew the deal
You were a wild, wild card
With a wild, wild heart
Dangerous to play
But you never walk away
From a wild card
We played and we were winning
I loved being on top
Holding hands and spinning
Didn’t want it to ever stop
Cheating the odds
Beating the house
I thought it was real
They say luck turns fast
Enjoy it while it lasts
I always knew the deal
You were a wild, wild card
With a wild, wild heart
Dangerous to play
I knew you’d never stay
You were a wild, wild card
With a wild, wild heart
You can't help but play
You never walk away from a wild card
Now I hear them cards shuffling
Every time you speak
Today could be the end
Of my winning streak
I track the dealer’s hands
See the turning of the wheel
Bet my number’s up
I always knew the deal...
You were a wild, wild card
With a wild, wild heart
Played it as it lay
I knew you’d never stay
You were a wild, wild card
With a wild, wild heart
You can’t help but play
But you never win the game
With a wild card

Evergreen
04:25
|
|||
Was it all that long ago
The time we met at the dark door
A flirt, drink, let's go
Both not looking for more
You were needing a clutch
And wouldn't it be just my luck
Talk and kiss, more like this
These small acts we'd both miss
Don't bring an axe to a swordfight
Don’t lose the forest for the trees
Show that you’re still keen
If you want to be evergreen
Evergreen
Time makes the branches grow
You were a pup, oh I know
Deep roots keep the wood strong
Who knew we'd be friends this long
Don't bring an axe to a swordfight
Just beat the jokers on the scene
Show that you’re still keen
If you want to be evergreen
Evergreen

Good Wife, Bad Wife
04:01
|
|||
The good wife, The bad wife
The little left behind
This trailer we're sharing
Holds the baggage of our minds
When is written
A song about this time
How we were love-bitten
With a meeting of minds
All the same rooms
The shared touch of gloom
Your overly large heart
My need to depart
When the players
Whom you love so
Write this story
How will it go?
Because the good wife, the bad wife
The little left behind
This trailer we're sharing
Holds the baggage of our minds
When is written
A song about this time
A tale of unknowns
A cover not blown
All of the screwing
No trouble brewing
Save for the drinking
We'll be deep thinking
With bombs exploding
Wind lightly blowing
electricity
specific to me
In that the good wife, the bad wife
The little left behind
This trailer we're sharing
Holds the baggage of our minds
When is written
A song about this time
That it's not a given
That love may be blind

Araby
04:01
|
|||
Days are short
Dusk at four
Stinging cold beyond the door
Through broken panes rain comes down
The carnival
Has come to town
Blowing wind
The sun is brown
See the lights
Going out
What did we do with the time?
What did we do with the time?
What did we do with the time?
Riding in deserted trains
Ten to Ten
Getting late
The lights go out
Voices call
Darkness falls
That's all
What did we do with the time?
What did we do with the time?
What did we do with the time?
We watched it go by

The Great Silence
04:00
|
Snow Westerns San Francisco, California
Emerging from California’s wild northern high country in the stormy, dark winter of 2022, Emily Hobson and Anu Kirk tied up
the horses and settled in with guitars and drinks. Facing the great silence, they combined their love of twang, shoegaze, slowcore, and goth music and began to write and wrangle.
Spooky tremolo and reverb. Western themes. Harmonies influenced by Low and Swans.
